We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Martin Otter as the next Head of Chesham Preparatory School. Martin will take up his post in September 2025 following the retirement of Mr. Jonathan Beale.
Martin grew up in Buckinghamshire and was educated at Aylesbury Grammar School and Bloxham School, before completing a degree in Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Leeds. He brings a wealth of experience in teaching and school leadership, having held key positions at York House School and North Bridge House Preparatory School in London. Most recently, he has served as Deputy Head at St. Mary’s School, Hampstead, since 2019.
The Governors were very impressed both by Martin’s expertise and his enthusiasm to continue to develop everything we love about Chesham Prep alongside strong academic and pastoral leadership and a child-centred approach.
We would also like to take this opportunity to recognise the huge impact our outgoing Head, Mr Beale, has had during his 26 years at Chesham Prep, particularly in terms of his inspiring leadership and contribution to every aspect of school life over such a long period. He has led the school through challenges, such as the Covid-19 lockdowns, and into a period of significant improvement in the quality of our academic and co-curricular offering and facilities.
